What Our Ottawa Cosmetic Dentistry Covers

The shape of cosmetic dentistry in today’s society has become a popular trend. Cosmetic dentistry covers teeth whitening, sculpting, removing the spaces between teeth, and replacing missing or broken teeth. However, as with any medical procedure, there are both risks and benefits surrounding them. This translates into researching and talking to your Ottawa dentist before you choose to move forward with any one of these processes.

The benefits should outweigh the risks. Additionally, you should understand the expense of the particular procedure beforehand this way there is no surprise when you get the bill. Furthermore, look into the amount of experience your dentist has with the procedure wish to have. In the end, the results are proportional to his or her experience after all.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

You brush. You floss. You use over-the-counter products and follow the directions exactly. Why, then, are your teeth still dull and discolored? For most adults, at-home care simply isn’t enough to whiten teeth. Trillium Dental offers both in-office and take-home teeth whitening for bright, beautiful smiles!

Zoom! Whitening

Patients at any of the Trillium Dental locations can have their teeth whitened up to nine shades with Zoom!® in-office whitening treatments. The Zoom! process takes about an hour, during which a special gel is applied to your teeth in three 15-minute sessions. During these sessions, the special Zoom! light is focused on your teeth, breaking up stains and discoloration. The entire process takes approximately an hour, after which you go home with a beautiful white smile.

Take-home Whitening

Prefer your sofa and a good book to the dental chair, but still would like whiter teeth? Patients at Trillium Dental can also opt for take-home whitening kits. These are also very effective for whitening your teeth and produce dramatic results within a few weeks

Porcelain Veneers

A Brand New Smile In Two Visits Or Less? Yes, With Porcelain Veneers From Trillium Dental!

Porcelain veneers are the crown jewel in the cosmetic dentist’s repertoire. They are wafer-thin shells of porcelain bonded directly to your teeth and can turn the most damaged smiles into dazzling ones! Veneers can effectively cover teeth that are yellow, stained with tobacco, beverages, or medications, or have chips, cracks or other minor imperfections. Even minor orthodontic problems can be resolved with veneers. The result? A Hollywood smile that’s sure to get you noticed!

What Should I Expect With Porcelain Veneers?

When you visit one of our Ontario area offices, our talented Ottawa cosmetic dentists will talk to you about the look you want to achieve. Taking into account your unique facial features and skin, hair, and eye color, we can help you choose the style of veneer that’s right for you. We’ll take a quick impression, then buff a tiny amount of enamel so that your veneer will fit perfectly and you’ll leave our office with a set of temporary veneers. You’ll simply return to our office for a final fitting when your handcrafted restoration arrives and we’ll bond your new veneers to your front teeth.

Tooth Sensitivity

Inlays/onlays

The days of unattractive metal fillings are over. We prefer a healthier alternative – the use of tooth-colored ceramic or composite materials for dental restorations. Porcelain fillings are hard, aesthetic, long lasting and reinforce the tooth as compared to conventional metal fillings. Some restorations cover the top of the tooth, inside the cusp, the ridge or curve at the top of the tooth. These are inlays. If one or more sides of the tooth need coverage, then the material extends over the cusp. This is known as an onlay. Ceramic inlays and onlays are known to have a lifespan of up to thirty years!

Smile Makeovers

A smile makeover is a total transformation. For some smile makeover cases, we work on every single tooth in our patient’s mouth! A smile makeover can involve several processes that may include teeth whitening, orthodontics, restorations, bridges or crowns, and veneers. The results are dramatic and life-changing.

Dental Bonding

Bonding is the application of ceramic or plastic material to your teeth. It can be used to fill cavities, cover a stained tooth, or fill in minor gaps between your teeth. It is a technique that allows us to adhere veneers, inlays/onlays, or plastic fillings to the tooth to reinforce it.

Gum Contouring

If your gums rest too low or too high on your teeth and you are unhappy with your smile, you may be a candidate for gum contouring. Also called gum reshaping or tissue sculpting, this cosmetic dental procedure can even out an uneven gum line and give you a smile you can be proud of. With a dental laser we can reveal more of the tooth to cure a “gummy” smile. The procedure is non-surgical and there’s very little swelling or bleeding.

Bridges And Crowns

Very often when a tooth requires significant restoration because of decay over most of the surface or an extremely large older restoration, a crown is placed to “cap it”. When a tooth goes through root canal therapy, it is almost always required to protect the tooth structure with a crown. After the root canal therapy,

the tooth becomes dry and brittle, requiring this additional protection against chipping or cracking. A crown covers the entire tooth to the gum line. Traditionally this involves at least two appointments. In the first appointment, we take an impression of your mouth which is sent to a dental lab to make the crown. While your permanent crown is being made, we fit you with a temporary crown. In your final appointment, we bond the permanent crown to your tooth. The permanent crown is carefully matched for fit and color with your other teeth.
